Diversity, Inclusion, and Equality
Brookland is my home and the heart of a New Henrico that is more open, inclusive, and prosperous for all. I promise to be a supervisor for all of Brookland and I will work tirelessly to see that our diverse citizens have a government that looks like the New Henrico: modern, multi-ethnic, multi-faith, progressive, and welcoming to people of all abilities. I am proud to live in such a vibrant multicultural mixing bowl as Brookland. I celebrate our many differences and common bonds alike. As your next Brookland supervisor, I will be an ally to women, people of color, and the LGBTQ communities. I will fight every day for a fairer, more equitable, and more tolerant Henrico that protects the rights of those who have been overlooked, left out, and underserved.
It’s time to tow away the trailers once and for all! As a student at Hermitage High School, I can remember taking classes in cramped trailers that were supposed to be a temporary solution. More than twenty years later, the trailers are still there and so are the excuses. As your next Brookland supervisor, I will fight to remove the trailers, reduce overcrowding in our public schools, and pay our hardworking teachers what they deserve. I will also be a champion for children of all abilities and an advocate for our students who need special education, access, and accommodations in order to reach their full potential.
Global warming is not a hoax. It is not a sinister plot invented by developing countries to ruin American industry or whatever nonsense the climate science deniers are peddling these days. Henrico cannot solve the world’s energy problems, but we can do our part. We must pull together as an enlightened community to protect our natural resources and to keep our air and water clean for generations to come. Utilizing renewable power is good for our health, our precious environment, and the bottom line. As your next Brookland supervisor, I will fight for a greater investment in green technology to establish Henrico County as a leader in energy innovation and environmental stewardship.
Henrico County is a premier location for business, tourism, sports, and recreation. As your next Brookland supervisor, I will strongly support our county administrators and marketing professionals in their efforts to attract and retain business investment in Henrico. We can and should do more to promote entrepreneurialism and start-up businesses. We can and should do more to support business expansion in Henrico County. We can and should do more to keep businesses in Henrico County. We can and should do more to encourage businesses that have left Henrico to come home. I promise to be an enthusiastic cheerleader for both workers and job creators, and I will honor the Henrico Way of fiscal responsibility, smart growth, and forward-thinking leadership.
Protecting our citizens and businesses is the chief responsibility of government. Every resident of Brookland has the right to feel safe and secure. I greatly respect the women and men who put their lives on the line for us every day. As your next Brookland supervisor, I will do everything in my power to see that our police, firefighters, and first responders have the training, resources, and compensation to be the absolute best they can be. I will also work vigorously to build bridges and partnerships between law enforcement and Henrico residents, striving to improve trust, transparency, cooperation, and accountability.
"I’m running to give the residents of Brookland a supervisor who represents their values, their interests, their hopes, and their struggles. I am passionate about being your customer service supervisor and I will fight every day to make it easier for Brookland residents to get the quality government services they pay for."
